Art contest: A new state flag
Congratulations to the winners of our annual art contest, which asked teens to create a new flag for California. The L.A. Youth staff chose these images as the winners.

Honorable mention, Hailey Caldwell, 15, Temple City HS. Teacher: Diane Chang-Ho.
The blue, white and yellow stripes are California's state colors. The yellow represents the sun, the blue is the ocean and the white means liberty. In the middle there's a grizzly bear, California valley quail, garabaldi fish, California poppy and the state all inside the sun.
